The NFL Players Association is proposing a significant change to the offseason schedule by extending mandatory training camps while eliminating voluntary practices. This move has sparked concerns among players, coaches, and personnel departments about the potential impact on family time and the overall calendar structure. The proposal could lead to an extended football season, with players expressing discontent over the potential longer training camp period.
Brissett continues to stand apart on a down-in, down-out basis as you’d expect. One thing you get reminded of watching him … he has an NFL arm and talent. Strung together a set of really nice throws in 7-on-7 including one to Javon Baker downfield on contested catch.
A LOT of throws out here during Patriots second OTA open to media. Maye still running third behind Brissett and Zappe but no shortage of reps. Maye just had a nice stretch in 11 on 11/7 on 7 after modest start Standout throw downfield to Tyquan Thornton who’s been real good

Browns return to OTAs on Tuesday with Watson back throwing passes. At the same time, the NFLPA seeks major changes to offseason: https://t.co/G5qdTUIxEu
In response to talk of NFLPA pushing OTAs into late June or early July, I’d expect a big push back against it from coaches, GMs and scouts. Many have school-aged kids and that period is reserved for family and vacations.
Potential change to NFL calendar could negatively impact staffs, families https://t.co/k6oKYI3ZcO
Interesting. Though I see value in OTAs and mini camps, I’ve never understood the current calendar. The six-week break from the end of OTAs until training seemingly diminishes the gains from the off-season program. Guys are training on their own for over a month before jumping… https://t.co/kuLi71PzzU
Social media was abuzz when #Browns WR Elijah Moore skipped OTAs last week, but he's there today. Details here. Also, the media will get its 1st chance to watch Deshaun Watson throw on Thurs, meaning more Watson content for fans: https://t.co/zaNtmyyqvE
Didn’t see James Cook, Von Miller, AJ Epenesa, Ed Oliver, Rasul Douglas, or Cam Lewis at Bills OTAs today.
Didn’t see at Saints OTA: RB Alvin Kamara; CBs Marshon Lattimore, Paulson Adebo, Kool-Aid McKinstry; WRs Rashid Shaheed, Stanley Morgan Jr.; DEs Chase Young, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Nathan Latu; OL Ryan Ramczyk, Oli Udoh, Mark Evans II; S JT Gray; DT Nathan Shepherd; LB Nephi Sewell
Didn’t see James Cook, Von Miller, AJ Epenesa, Ed Oliver, or Cam Lewis at Bills OTAs today.
A working draft of an NFL Players Association proposal to the league could effectively end Spring Football practices and move onfield work to late June-early July. Good for vets, maybe not too good for rookies and teams undergoing changes. Details: https://t.co/X4LbqskRMK
Long list of missing players for Ravens OTAs today. (Keaton Mitchell poked his head out of the gym, so he’s here and working but not on the field). https://t.co/nzrNCJ39ZM
QB Lamar Jackson amongst 15 Ravens I don’t see participating in today’s OTA. List includes Deonte Harty, Arthur Maulet, Michael Pierce, Keaton Mitchell (knee), Marcus Williams, Kyle Van Noy, Adisa Isaac (hamstring), Beau Brade (ankle), Trayvon Mullen, Malik Harrison, Agholor
Browns are rescheduling this week’s open media OTA day to Thursday, which is Deshaun Watson’s next scheduled day to throw.
Can’t imagine players being in favor of a longer training camp. Maybe report in mid-June and only scattered breaks through January? Maybe I read them wrong. https://t.co/VKve6Rsp2L
So the @NFLPA is offering to add a month (or more) of mandatory training camp while eliminating the voluntary practices? Cool. And brilliant, really. I mean, who wouldn't want more mandatory work? https://t.co/pRECvwzPW3
This is going to suck for coaches/personnel departments. The break in the NFL calendar married up well with end of school year, which allowed families to have quality time together. Getting your break while school is still in session would be a bummer. https://t.co/DThRp72c0y
I cannot imagine how this ends well. Players tend to despise training camp, which is already a grind in the teeth of summer heat/humidity, and you’re going to extend it? While likely adding two weeks to the season (18th game, added bye)? You’re talking Football June to late-Feb… https://t.co/le7mu953pK
Prediction: Players, coaches and anyone else involved in football ops would end up absolutely despising this. As it stands, the calendar is largely filled, but there is a month where guys can get away, and people's kids are out of school for vacation, and the league shuts down. https://t.co/9ZhEjDUV13
Basically, the idea here would be to roll an extended, OTA-style ramp-up — strength and conditioning, non-padded work, etc. — straight into training camp without a six-week break/de-escalation in between. A major change. https://t.co/gVgVDiYmGj
