NFL Implements New Rule Requiring Veteran Players to Pass Through Waivers After Being Released on November 1, 2023

As of November 1, 2023, all NFL players who are released will have to pass through waivers before signing with a new team. This new rule applies to both veteran players with at least four years of service and rookies. Last year on the deadline day, there were 11 completed trades, involving 14 players and 20 draft picks. Additionally, vested veterans who are released after 4 pm ET today will be subject to waivers until the end of the playoffs.
