Matthew Centrowitz, a Broadneck alum and 2016 Olympic gold medalist, has withdrawn from the 2024 U.S. Olympic track and field trials due to injury. Centrowitz, who had planned for these trials to be his final U.S. Olympic trials, has had one of the great American running careers of his generation. Additionally, Germantown Academy graduate Kyle Garland, who was in second place with only the pole vault, javelin, and 1,500 meters left, also withdrew from the track and field trials before the pole vault event.

Heartbreaker for the Germantown Academy graduate, who seemed to be on his way to making the Olympic team - in 2nd place with only the PV, jav and 1,500 left. Damn - but dropped out before pole vault.
