The NFL MVP award for Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson has sparked controversy as he received 49 of 50 first-place votes, with one voter choosing Josh Allen. Stephen A. Smith and others have criticized the lone voter, Aaron Schatz, for his decision, while some defend the right to vote against the grain. Despite the debate, Lamar Jackson's achievements, including being a two-time MVP, are widely acknowledged, with some suggesting he is a Hall of Fame candidate.

Aaron Schatz is being criticized for being the only NFL MVP voter to not give Lamar Jackson his first-place vote. Is it right? Or is it just groupthink? ⬇️ https://t.co/MnpjA39WWd
This is absolutely crazy. The "one voter" was Aaron Schatz, one of the most important football thinkers of the last 20 yrs. Beyond that, while Lamar's season was very good, it was not so much better than Allen, McCaffrey, Dak, or Purdy's seasons that he deserved an unanimous MVP. https://t.co/mAIBlumXY0
“The goal was not to deny Lamar Jackson history. I honestly thought I would not be the only one.” The only thing between Lamar Jackson and a second unanimous MVP was one vote. I talked to @ASchatzNFL about it, and the nature of voting against the grain: https://t.co/xaVBFUEWxj
Lamar Jackson is a 2-Time MVP, the youngest ever to do it and it’s way to early to attach any “he can’t win the big ones” labels to his name. Yes, he came up short in his 1st AFC Championship game, but going into year 6 as a full time starter he is 2-4 in the playoffs just like… https://t.co/tpCmC64STB https://t.co/p9D5Cte5K2
I don't get the hunting of people who vote in a way you might disagree with. Yeah, Lamar Jackson didn't get the unanimous MVP. So what? I thought he was the MVP, but it's not like he blew away the field with his stats. There was room for a Josh Allen vote or even someone else https://t.co/zVmROBcA0C
Lamar Jackson received 49 out of 50 first place MVP votes. One person voted for Josh Allen. How do you NOT vote for Lamar? 🤨 @EvCoRadio @ChrisCanty99 @msmallmon via #USL on @ESPNRadio | #NFLHonors https://t.co/xAZSOrqBbu

Lamar Jackson got 49 of the 50 possible first place votes for the 2024 NFL MVP Award. But Stephen A. Smith is furious that one voter chose Josh Allen for the award instead, saying the voter's choice "compromises everything." Read: https://t.co/mKr0jxudlV https://t.co/XHimwSzHJZ

I continue to be mystified by this one NFL award. How can Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson be named NFL MVP yet be fourth in voting for NFL Offensive Player of the Year? Award should be renamed Second-Best Offensive Player of the Year.
