During a critical moment in their game, the Indianapolis Colts made a controversial decision to call a timeout before a 4th and inches attempt. The Colts, who had three timeouts remaining, could have preserved their chances to regain possession of the ball with more time on the clock if they had managed to stop their opponent. However, after calling the timeout, they were left with the prospect of only a few seconds to make a play if they failed to convert on 4th down. The decision was widely questioned as the Colts did indeed fail to convert, leading to a reaction from fans and analysts who were baffled by the team's strategy.
Why did the Colts waste 30 seconds, then call a timeout? If they hadn’t done that, they could have gotten the ball back here with some time left when they failed on fourth down.
still baffled at why the Colts used a timeout before that play. They'd have another shot at it
The Colts go for it on 4th down and come up short... 😮 https://t.co/bNaZfyl1rZ
HOW DO YOU WASTE A TIMEOUT ON 4TH AND INCHES????? GEEZUS!! #Colts
Was really hoping the Colts weren't going to call a timeout there, given that they would still be able to get the ball back with a stop and three TOs. Now, you can only get the ball back with a few seconds if you fail.
