Coastal regions across the Northeast are bracing for a weekend of significant weather-related challenges, including moderate to major coastal flooding, heavy rain, and strong winds. The National Weather Service has issued multiple advisories, including a Coastal Flood Watch for the Delaware River and parts of New England, and a Coastal Flood Advisory for areas including the Delaware River and Queens South. The flooding in Portland is attributed to a forecasted 13.9' level, with a 2.6' storm surge on top of an 11.3' tide, potentially marking the fourth highest flood level on record. Additionally, southeast coastal gusts could reach up to 50 mph. Residents in affected areas are advised to prepare for possible significant erosion, flooding, and to avoid driving through flooded roads.
