The City Council has approved the 'City of Yes for Economic Opportunity' zoning text amendment. This initiative aims to protect and enhance vital manufacturing sectors while addressing historic environmental justice issues. The amendment was modified through collaboration between Council Members, including CM Jen Gutierrez and CM Salamanca Jr., NYCSpeakerAdams, the M-Zone Coalition, and the Planning & Land Use Division. The reforms align with recommendations from Community Board 9 and include measures to confront traffic and pollution caused by last-mile facilities. The City has committed to starting the process to require special permits for these sites.
