A 29-year-old man, Daquan David, with unexplained gunshot wounds on his hands, has been arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the fatal shooting of a Crown Heights bodega worker over refusing to fork over a free cigar. The incident, which involved a $2 cigarillo, has led the victim's mother to call for a life sentence for David. In a separate case, five individuals - Ronnie Butler, 46; Shaleek Riddick, 19; Louis Mercado, 48; Diante Stinson, 20, and a 16-year-old boy - have been charged in the December murder of Brooklyn laundromat owner Money Perkins, who was shot for his $60,000 gold chain. The arrests were made possible by the collaborative efforts of detectives from the 67 Precinct Squad, Brooklyn South Homicide, Queens and Brooklyn Gun Violence Suppression, and the Regional Fugitive Task Force.
