Virginia Tech's football team is undergoing changes, with four captains playing their final college game and a reshuffling of the defensive tackle (DT) lineup. The departing captains are Norell Pollard, Alan Tisdale, Mario Kendricks, and Pheldarius Payne. To fill the void, the Hokies have secured commitments from three new defensive tackles: Aeneas Peebles, Kemari Copeland, and Kelvin Gilliam, who announced his commitment after transferring from Oklahoma. Gilliam, the 2020-21 Gatorade Virginia player of the year from Highland Springs, was the No. 107 player in the 2021 class. The team is expected to make another transfer acquisition soon. Additionally, reserve interior offensive lineman (IOL) Jack Hollifield has entered the transfer portal.
