A Leon County circuit judge has denied the Atlantic Coast Conference's (ACC) motion to stay Florida State University's (FSU) lawsuit against the conference, during the first hearing at the Leon County Courthouse. The decision came after the judge criticized the ACC for 'forum shopping' by filing its lawsuit in North Carolina a day before FSU's lawsuit in Florida. The ACC, expressing respect for the court's decision, strongly disagreed with the judge's determination surrounding the requested stay in Florida, especially following the North Carolina court’s decision, and indicated plans to examine next steps.
ACC statement: “While we respect the court’s decision, we strongly disagree with its determination surrounding our requested stay in Florida, especially following the North Carolina court’s decision. We are examining our options as it relates to next steps.”
