In a significant legal development, a Leon County circuit judge has denied the Atlantic Coast Conference's (ACC) motion to stay Florida State University's (FSU) lawsuit against the conference, citing the ACC's attempt at "forum shopping" by filing its lawsuit in North Carolina a day before FSU's in Florida. This decision allows FSU's lawsuit in Florida state court to proceed and results in two cases being considered in two different state courts simultaneously, a situation described as "Not good for the ACC." Following the ruling, the ACC issued a statement expressing respect for the court's decision but strongly disagreeing with the determination surrounding the requested stay in Florida, especially in light of a North Carolina court's decision. The ACC is currently examining its options for next steps.

FSU’s lawsuit against the ACC in Florida state court will proceed, as the court has denied the ACC’s motion to stay. So we’ll have two cases, in two different state courts, considering the same issues, since the NC state court denied FSU’s motion to stay. Not good for the ACC. https://t.co/Lhdw3GgpPm
