Florida State University (FSU) defeated Stetson 7-2 in their NCAA Regional opener in Tallahassee. Max Williams and Daniel Cantu hit solo home runs to give FSU an early lead. Stetson managed to score a run in the third inning on a two-out double, but FSU quickly responded with an RBI single from Jaime Ferrer. FSU extended their lead to 5-1 after a fielding error by Stetson's left fielder. Carson Dorsey delivered a standout performance, pitching 8.2 innings, allowing only one earned run, and striking out seven batters. FSU added two more insurance runs in the eighth inning on productive outs. Brennen Oxford closed the game for FSU, securing their spot in the winner's bracket.
Dorsey reaches career highs and #FSU takes advantage of Stetson’s miscues in Florida State’s 7-2 win to open the Tallahassee Regional. Recap and more: https://t.co/wgKuGEBo9q
Always big to get the first dub. Can't say (or tweet) enough about Dorsey. Dude gave up eight runs in ONE inning pitched up in Charlotte. Came back and shoved in the biggest game of the year. Huge performance from him. Seminoles onto the winner's bracket.
Oxford strikes out the one batter he faces and FSU heads to the winner’s bracket with a 7-2 win over Stetson.
FSU beats Stetson 7-2 in its NCAA Regional opener behind a gem of a start from Carson Dorsey, who went 8.2 innings. The #Noles are through to tomorrow night's winner's bracket game at 5 p.m.
LSU WINS ON A WALK-OFF HOME RUN‼️ https://t.co/Ef9GBrqpeO
That’s it for Dorsey. 8.2 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 K, 1 BB. Brennen Oxford in to close the game with a runner on third. T9: #FSU 7, Stetson 2
Carson Dorsey came one out away from FSU's first complete game since Drew Parrish in 2018. Still an absolutely unbelievable start from FSU's No. 2 starter. 8.2 IP, 9 H, 1 ER (responsible for runner on third), 7 K, 1 BB
Carson Dorsey gets his THIRD standing ovation after pitching 8 2/3 innings for FSU. He got one ovation after the eighth, another before the ninth and now one more after leaving with two outs after giving up a single. FSU leads Stetson 7-2.

Huge performance from Carson Dorsey. He worked though a two-on, one-out jam to keep the game at 5-2. Most likely the last inning for the lefty, 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 K, 1 BB. End 7: #FSU 5, Stetson 2
Last week in the ACC Tournament, Carson Dorsey allowed eight runs in one inning of work. Today in FSU's regional opener, he allowed one earned run over a career-high seven innings. Absolutely huge response to the challenge the FSU staff threw at him by betting on him today.
FSU needed Carson Dorsey to come through if they're going to win this Regional. And he has more than done his part. That's 7 very strong innings.
Stetson picks up their second run on some Seminole miscues. Dorsey escapes without any further damage. Mid 6: #FSU 5, Stetson 2
