Duke achieved a 77-67 road win against Virginia Tech in ACC basketball action. Outrebounding VT 38-20 and shooting 9-17 from the three-point line were key factors in Duke's victory. MJ Collins stood out for the Hokies with 13 points, but Duke's offense, led by Tyrese Proctor and Ryan Young, proved too potent. Despite Tech's perfect free-throw performance, Duke's efficient play secured the win. Meanwhile, Clemson held on to defeat Louisville 70-64, with Louisville missing key players Ty-Laur Johnson and Skyy Clark due to injuries.
Up by as many 24 and had to sweat it out late in the second half … Clemson needed that one. 3-6 in the ACC with Virginia and UNC on deck would’ve been trouble. Will say, Louisville is a lot more competitive than it was last year https://t.co/Fzdchg9mDY
Up by as many 24 and had to sweat it out late in the second half … Clemson needed that one. 3-5 in the ACC with Virginia and UNC on deck would’ve been trouble. Will say, Louisville is a lot more competitive than it was last year https://t.co/Fzdchg9mDY
Louisville falls behind by 24, pulls back within 4, but still loses sixth straight, 70-64 at Clemson. Health an issue -- Ty-Laur Johnson out with an ankle, Skyy Clark missed most of the second half with a leg injury. Final stats below https://t.co/66oZRdKlqa
Clemson holds on to its lead and defeats Louisville 70-64. Tigers will welcome Virginia on Saturday in hopes of winning back-to-back ACC games for the first time this season.
Tough last 2 minutes of the first half for Louisville. Clemson goes on an 8-0 run to lead by 12 at the break. Louisville shooting just 24.2 percent in the half. Playing without point guard Ty-Laur Johnson, the Cards have 8 turnovers, 0 assists. https://t.co/N8thdxb2nV
It's not insignificant to have wins over Duke and North Carolina in the same season. Nice work tonight by Georgia Tech.
My friend @RussHoops would be proud of first-year Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire who has taken down both Duke and UNC in his first year at Georgia Tech. Thinking of the big man right now.
Every time I’ve watched Georgia Tech - which, admittedly, has only been twice against Duke, and tonight - I’ve been impressed. And was equally so with Damon Stoudamire after the close loss in Durham. Bright future, etc., and a good GT in hoops is good for the ACC.
This was the #Hokies’ moment. Others remain — Florida State, Virginia and Wake Forest at home, Miami and, gulp, North Carolina on the road spring to mind — but Monday was different. Tech took its shots; Duke was too good. ⬇️ https://t.co/49jUDH3NQN
Duke beats Virginia Tech 77-67. Blue Devils come on the road and notch an impressive win. Outrebounded VT 38-20; shot 9-17 on 3-pointers. Most impressive was probably the Saturday-Monday swing and playing better tonight. Next one is in Chapel Hill.
Very solid win for Duke, on the road, in a place that’s given it trouble lately. Tyrese Proctor keeps cooking, Ryan Young with some nice minutes off the bench, and the Blue Devils even pulled away at the end. Encouraging stuff. Next up: at UNC on Saturday.
Tech 9 of 9 from line tonight. Duke 2 of 6. Devils still lead, 63-56, at U8 TV break. https://t.co/m0fTFXssAL
Most three-pointers made by Duke in a game this year was 13 vs. Bucknell (11/17/23). Their highest three-point percentage was 55.6% (10-of-18) vs. Charlotte (12/9/23). Shooting 9/14 (64.3%) tonight and 4/5 (80%) in 2H.
Baseline three from MJ Collins, who's reallly kept the #Hokies in this early. He's got 13 points, all three of VT's 3-pointers. VT's within 32-29 with under a minute in the half.
Blue Devils looking connected on offense tonight. Seven of the eight players who have played have scored. Foster leads with 8. Filipowski with 6. Duke up 32-21 at VT.
VT leads 8-4 and the combined length of shots made is about 32 feet*. * 30 of it on two FTs.
#Hokies go for a Quad 1 tonight at home against Duke. #UVA has a shot at a Quad 1 win Saturday at Clemson. Big week for the Commonwealth's ACC teams ... https://t.co/jjtsu5U8Mq
