In a tightly contested college basketball matchup, the Baylor Bears started off on the back foot as Duke took an early 9-3 lead. Baylor struggled with turnovers and trailed 26-18 midway through the first half. However, Yves Missi's presence in the paint helped the Bears to tie the game at 28. Despite trailing by as much as 19 points, Baylor managed to end the first half down just 34-32, with Missi close to a double-double. The second half saw Baylor freshmen, particularly Missi and Ja'Kobe Walter, make significant contributions. Walter scored eight points early in the half, but his fourth foul led to him being benched, during which Duke went on a 9-2 run. Duke's Ryan Young stepped up off the bench in Filipowski's absence due to foul trouble, helping push the lead to 54-48 in favor of Baylor. As the game neared its end, Duke maintained control with a 68-61 lead, buoyed by their performance during critical stretches and Baylor's challenges, including Missi's temporary exit to the locker room.
Ryan Young has been awesome for Duke down the stretch. Came in for Filipowski around the 7-minute mark, made a layup, a couple free throws, active on the glass and made the assist on Jared McCain's 3 that pushed Duke's lead out to seven. Big lift off the bench.
Duke on a 9-2 run since Ja’Kobe Walter went to the bench with his fourth foul.
A 9-2 run for Duke since Filipowski went to the bench, killing Batlor with pick and roll. 3:55 to go and Bears trail 68-61.
Huge stretch for Duke opening the lead with Filipowski on the bench with four fouls. Big minutes from Ryan Young.
#Baylor C Yves Missi is headed to the locker room.
Missi just went to the locker room. Everyday Jon into the game.
Kyle Filipowski getting going with four straight points and about to head to the line for three shots after Ojianwuna fouled him on a three. All with Missi in the bench, something that will change soon. 54-48 Bears with 11 minutes to go.
Baylor's frosh have been the catalysts tonight. Yves Missi was terrific in the first half, crashing the glass and dealing with Filipowski. In the second, it's been Ja'Kobe Walter, eight points in the first six minutes since halftime. Can't give him a clean look if you're Duke.
Baylor fans are rocking. Jalen Bridges hits an inbounds 3, and then Ja'Kobe Walter nails a 3 of his own. It's 48-42, Bears. Baylor fans chanting, "B-U! B-U!" (By the way, this looks like a sellout. Really impressive crowd.)
Bears fight back on the back of Yves Missi and trail 34-32 against Duke at halftime after trailing by 10 early.
Good half btw @DukeMBB and @BaylorMBB. Missi working on a double double in first half.
Bears fight back on the back of Yves Missi and trail 34-32 against Duke at halftime after trailing by 19 early.
Rebounds in the first 9 minutes: Duke 10, Baylor 3. Rebounds in the last 7 1/2 minutes: Baylor 13, Duke 4.
Blue Devils missed seven of eight shots and their 10-point lead went bye-bye. Now tied at 28 with Baylor. 3:32 until halftime. Yves Missi is a problem in the paint for the Blue Devils. Baylor big man is having big impact
Missi making a statement in this half with another dominant block. Tie game with under 4-minutes to go. Bears responding this time to a slow start.
Seven straight for Yves Missi, nine straight for Baylor.
It is Yves Missi time!!! Two out backs, last 7-points and a big block. Bears down just 1 on a 9-0 run.
Yves Missi nearly slams down another alleyoop but the best part of the play was that he was on the floor at the other end. Missi popped up after deflecting a shot and hustling to get paid off on offense. He was fouled instead. Timeout on the floor. Baylor 18 | Duke 26 | 7:33 H1
Timeout on the floor, Baylor trails 26-18, but Yves Missi will have two free throws upcoming after the break. There's 7:33 left in the half.
It's 11-5, Duke, at the first media timeout. Baylor's turnover problems continue, they've got three already, and they're just careless stuff.
Not the cleanest of starts here for the Bears. Duke leads 9-3.
