The San Antonio Spurs, likely sellers at the NBA trade deadline, have made significant moves, including trading Doug McDermott back to the Indiana Pacers. In a whirlwind day, Marcus Morris Sr. started with the Philadelphia 76ers, was traded to the Pacers, and then to the Spurs, who are expected to buy out his contract. These trades have put the Spurs $4.4 million over the salary cap. If Morris is waived, San Antonio will have an open roster spot and access to the full $7.7 million Room Mid-Level Exception (MLE) and a $1.3 million Disabled Player Exception (DPE) for further roster adjustments.

Pacers essentially exchanged Buddy Hield for Doug McDermott at the NBA trade deadline. It reminds me of the Colts’ 2015 NFL draft, when I didn’t understand what they’d just done, with one difference: I believe in Kevin Pritchard, and trust he has a plan. https://t.co/bbYRytMomk

I like the Pacers acquiring Doug McDermott as a great 3-point shooting threat and Corey Joseph as another quality guard to help boost their team's defense.
Swapping McDermott's salary for Morris' salary puts the Spurs $4.4 million over the salary cap. If Morris gets waived, San Antonio has one open roster spot with the full $7.7 million Room MLE still available. The Spurs can add another roster spot with the $1.3 DPE.

Spurs are likely to buyout Marcus Morris, sources said. https://t.co/2Qelqpu6mB
Seems like Marcus Morris would be the salary going to San Antonio in the McDermott deal, which wouldn't be awkward at all.
Yesssss, Marcus Morris is finally a Spur!

If Hayes becomes a free agent after 48 hours, then San Antonio has up to $7.7 million of the room MLE left to offer him a contract. Again, this based on doing some quick research. https://t.co/LFkj9zmPcY
