The New Orleans Pelicans, led by executive David Griffin, are reportedly open to trading Herbert Jones, according to @HPbasketball. The team faces salary cap challenges in retaining key players, including stars Jones and Trey Murphy III. The debate around Jones's trade value highlights the Pelicans' view of his playoff viability on offense, even while he is on a favorable contract. While some speculate about the Pelicans actively shopping Jones, others believe the team is simply open to negotiations, as Griffin does not believe in untouchables.
If the Kings can go and get Herb Jones for a mid first round pick or player of comparable value, then you just go do it because you would be dumb not to do it. Seems pretty unlikely and it doesn’t solve the Sabonis issue but again you just go do it.
My opinion on the Herb news is that it's one of those things that isn't really "news". Griff says to everyone he doesn't really believe in untouchables so if the Pelicans have a price on Herb it shouldn't be surprising. Doesn't mean they are actually shopping him.
Seems like a Kuminga/Moody situation with the Pelicans. Warriors should have some interest here, as this young man has the physical attributes and the drive to be one of the better defenders in the league if put in the right situation Zion/Jones for CP3/Kuminga/Moody/Saric? https://t.co/GDwz9Zytrr
(The Pelicans even hinting at wanting to trade Herb while he’s on *this* contract says a great deal about their feelings on Trey and/or Herb’s playoff viability on offense.)
The Pelicans are open to moving Herb Jones, per @HPbasketball “The Pelicans are thought to be open to moving Herbert Jones. They're high on Jones, but it'll be difficult for the team to pay their stars, Jones and Trey Murphy III.” (Via https://t.co/53meAJDila) https://t.co/bLuP8ZvTW5
