Aaron Gordon drilled a three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to tie the score at 102-102, and the Denver Nuggets dominated the extra period to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 113-104 in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals at Ball Arena on Friday. The victory gives the reigning champions a 2-1 edge in the best-of-seven series.
Denver’s supporting cast carried the night. Jamal Murray posted 27 points, eight assists and four steals, while Gordon added 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Michael Porter Jr. supplied 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds. Despite an 0-for-11 night from three-point range, Nikola Jokić finished with 20 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks. The Nuggets held Oklahoma City to just two points in overtime, closing the contest on a 14-2 run.
Jalen Williams led the Thunder with 24 points, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 22 but did not attempt a shot in overtime. “Nothing’s written—the series is definitely not over and we have a lot to be optimistic about,” Gilgeous-Alexander said afterward. Game 4 is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
