The Milwaukee Bucks' recent decision to consider hiring Doc Rivers as their head coach has sparked widespread discussion and speculation. Amidst a season with high expectations, the Bucks' choice to potentially bring in Rivers, who has not reached the Conference Finals in over a decade, has been met with mixed reactions. While some view Rivers as a seasoned coach capable of leading the team, others question the timing and suitability of such a move, given the limited practice time and the need to adapt to an unfamiliar staff. The situation has been further complicated by conflicting reports about the actual confirmation of Rivers' hiring, with outlets like 'CNN Sports' prematurely announcing the news, leading to confusion and a 'source-off' between prominent NBA insiders Woj and Shams. ESPN's gamble on Rivers could backfire, and Magic Johnson has extended congratulations to Rivers for accepting the job.

Why is the TNT broadcast talking as if they didn't already announce Doc has been hired by the Bucks?
‘CNN Sports’ breaking Doc Rivers-Bucks scoop confounds everyone https://t.co/LY6DTcHt9M https://t.co/xOObaDqRoz
“CNN Sport” breaking news on live television that Doc Rivers has been hired for a prestigious nba head coaching job is the most 2010 thing in the universe.
The news guy in me had to tweet this... I have no idea what "CNN Sports" is, and there's a part of me that wonders if TNT producers got duped here because no one else has reported that Doc Rivers to Milwaukee is a done deal yet. https://t.co/MmKUV46FLW
"For so long, he's been surviving off that one championship so I would like to see him get another one." 👀 @SHAQ on the Bucks hiring of Doc Rivers https://t.co/VKEZ3Fo9Ii
Doc Rivers? Really? https://t.co/ojVCk5K0tL
I want to congratulate my friend, and one of the best to ever coach in the NBA, Doc Rivers for accepting the Milwaukee Bucks head coaching job! Doc is a World Champion so he will demand that the Bucks play hard, play good defense, and play well together.
The biggest upset in the NBA this year is CNN SPORTS beating @wojespn to the Doc Rivers to the Bucks news and he & Doc WORK FOR ESPN. Did Doc even tell the network he was quitting? Lol
Shaq basically being like yeah players shouldn't listen to a coach if he hasn't won a championship before. And it's okay that Doc apparently snaked in for this job because he has a good resume. 🥶 🥶 🥶
BREAKING: Doc Rivers lands in Milwaukee, per @NBAonTNT and @CNN https://t.co/njLPrKDvac
Woj seeing CNN Sports beat him to the Doc Rivers news 😂 https://t.co/28uj6qvyIH
Sooooooo Doc to the Bucks is official @NBAonTNT broken by @CNN ?? 👀
TNT says that Doc Rivers has accepted the Bucks job, citing "CNN Sports" -- a brand that I don't believe exists, at least not domestically.
I wrote on the Bucks' decision, and how it shouldn't surprise anyone. Also, why Doc Rivers is a great coach (no, really) and the wrong hire at the same time. https://t.co/tTdm6L1psl
The challenge facing Doc Rivers -- or anyone -- taking over the Bucks is enormous. Less than half a season left, little practice time, having to mold your tactics w/current ones w/an unfamiliar staff on the fly. Says a lot about how management felt about the current situation.
NEW: ESPN's Doc Rivers move is on the verge of backfiring. What would be next if he leaves for Bucks? https://t.co/DMG4fLvWXJ
Doc Rivers is the habit the NBA can’t quit https://t.co/kIk26MD62Z
ESPN’s Doc Rivers gamble could blow up in their face https://t.co/I1LOsuYR9f https://t.co/vQuEnHEw8r
Woj and Shams relay different Doc Rivers/Bucks reports https://t.co/J1TTF2enrR https://t.co/dIoGeu1sfQ
Doc Rivers stays busy.
At this point if Doc Rivers gets Bucks job, I'm just gonna be convinced he has massive dirt on at minimum several NBA GMs if not owners.
We can talk injury luck, but the reality is Doc Rivers hadn't been to the Conference Finals in over a decade of attempts. His last Finals berth was even longer than that (& arguably in a far different NBA). If he's the pick, we'll see if the talent on the Bucks is enough. https://t.co/fA4zi32qFO
Anybody looking at the record surprised at the firing hasn’t talked to a Bucks fan this season. It was a mistake to hire a first time coach in a win-now season, and obviously it’s a very disruptive thing for the Bucks to do. But they’re a good org that does do knee jerk stuff
