In a controversial moment during the close ending of Game 2 of the Celtics-Mavericks series, P.J. Washington was involved in a play that many believe should have resulted in a foul call against Jaylen Brown. The incident occurred as Jayson Tatum and P.J. Washington were contesting a play, leading to a block by Derrick White. However, commentators and fans argue that Jaylen Brown pushed P.J. Washington in the back, and Derrick White slapped Washington's hand, which should have resulted in free throws for Washington. Mike Breen, a prominent commentator, noted that the block was great but insisted that a foul should have been called. The missed call could have allowed Washington to cut the deficit to three points, putting pressure on the Celtics, who were struggling with their shooting at the time.

Mike Breen: "Not only was it a great block, there should've been a foul call. Jaylen Brown with a shove in the back on this PJ Washington play. Both guys blocked it, but that should've been a foul call." https://t.co/tuLS0dCynd https://t.co/E742Lsx5Ft
Now that I see the replay, Jaylen Brown definitely pushed PJWashington in the back (as well as DWhite slapped PJ on the hand). He should've been shooting 2 to cut it to 3 and put all the heat back on a cold-shooting Boston. But the refs aren't going to call that in Boston.
