Brazil Reports 70% Decrease in Wildfire Area in Q1 2025, Roraima Most Affected with 415,700 Hectares Burned; Cerrado Sees 12% Increase

Brazil has reported a 70% decrease in the area affected by wildfires during the first quarter of 2025, according to data released by MapBiomas on April 16. Despite this overall reduction, the Cerrado region experienced a 12% increase in fire incidents. Roraima was the most impacted state, with 415,700 hectares burned, followed by Pará. The Amazon continues to be the primary focus of fire activity in the country.
