The 2025 Tribeca Festival, set to run from June 4 to 15 in New York City, has revealed its comprehensive lineup of feature films, documentaries, and animated works. The festival will kick off with the world premiere of 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes,' a documentary directed by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin that delves into the life and career of the legendary singer-songwriter.
Miley Cyrus's visual album 'Something Beautiful,' co-directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter and featuring 13 original songs, will also have its world premiere at the festival. Produced by Cyrus and Panos Cosmatos, the screening will be followed by an exclusive conversation with Cyrus. The festival will further highlight music documentaries on artists like Metallica, Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, Counting Crows, Culture Club, Becky G, and Eddie Vedder, with post-screening performances and conversations by Billy Idol, Becky G, Eddie Vedder, Ty Dolla $ign, and Wizkid.
The narrative film lineup includes 'Tow,' starring Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, and Demi Lovato, which follows an unhoused woman's battle against a predatory towing company. 'The Best You Can' reunites Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick on screen for the first time in 20 years, while 'Everything’s Going to Be Great' features Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney. The festival will also present the live-action remake of 'How to Train Your Dragon,' with Mason Thames, Nico Parker, and Gerard Butler in the lead roles.
Documentary world premieres will include films on cultural icons such as Andy Kaufman, Barbara Walters, and Jack Kerouac, as well as Mariska Hargitay's directorial debut exploring the life of her mother, Jayne Mansfield. Other documentaries will address significant issues, including the fight to cure epidermolysis bullosa and the sexual abuse scandal at Ohio State University, the latter produced by George Clooney.
The festival will conclude with 'Yanuni,' a documentary produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Richard Ladkani, which follows Indigenous chief Juma Xipaia's efforts to protect her people's land.
