The Chicago White Sox have made several coaching staff changes, including the addition of Grady Sizemore as a coach and the hiring of Marcus Thames as the hitting coach. Tony La Russa will remain in an advisory position to mentor minor league coaches and players. The team's general manager, Chris Getz, emphasized the importance of improving defensively and attracting pitchers. Getz also mentioned the need to find players to help the team in both the near and long term. The White Sox players are working hard in the offseason to get stronger and more athletic. Getz stated that there are no untouchables on the team's roster.

With “invaluable experience,” Tony La Russa stays involved with White Sox https://t.co/Nmf1uCiXYa
Getz on Moncada: "He’s played second base with us. I think he’s a better third baseman than second baseman. That doesn’t mean there aren’t going to be some days perhaps he goes over to second or plays first base and perhaps even the outfield. We’ll do what’s best for our club."
Per Getz, many White Sox players working diligently this offseason to get stronger, more athletic, more powerful.
More Getz on La Russa: "... there is going to be mentoring with some of our Minor League coaches and our players as well. He’s an asset, I’m going to take advantage of him."
Getz on Tony La Russa's role: "He’s in an advisory position. That type of experience is invaluable, not only in the team building aspect with so many little pieces that go into a Major League club...
Getz on Oscar Colas: "I think he probably benefits with more time in Charlotte, quite honestly. We hope he learns from his Major League experience, take advantage of what he has been exposed to, what it takes to be a Major League player."
Getz: "You certainly don’t want to get lost or overwhelmed with the amount of work that’s in front of you. You wake up each day and find ways to improve your ballclub. That’s how we’re approaching things and it’s one move at a time."
More Getz on Lee: "... That doesn’t mean we’re not going to look to improve the position as a whole."
Getz on Korey Lee: "We’ll look at ways to strengthen that position to allow him to feel like we’re putting him in a position to succeed. He’s certainly going to get his opportunities at the Major League level. ...
Getz said Tony La Russa is "in an advisory position. That type of experience is invaluable, not only in the team-building aspect with so many little pieces that go into a major league club." Mentoring minor league coaches, players. "He’s an asset."
"We have to find players to come in here and help get us in the right direction," Getz said, "and if that means that we use some of the players we have to multiply and not only help us in the near term ... but also in the long term as well."
Major emphasis on being better defensively, Getz said. If you've watched Sox over the years, you get this. Just make the routine plays. "That’s going to be a large focus of this offseason. I want it to be an attractive place where pitchers want to pitch. We’ll set out to do that"
