Major League Baseball (MLB) has granted Roku exclusive broadcasting rights for its 'MLB Sunday Leadoff' games, starting this weekend with the Red Sox-Cardinals game and continuing through September 15. The multi-year deal, which marks a shift from Peacock to Roku, includes not only the live telecasts of Sunday morning games but also features such as nightly video-on-demand (VOD) clips and an MLB FAST channel available in MLB Zone/Sports Zone. The agreement also allows for more flexible scheduling, with games on the West Coast, such as the Arizona at San Diego game on July 7 and Dodgers at Arizona on September 1, now starting at 1:10 PM local time.
The MLB Sunday package, in moving from Peacock to Roku, now allows for West Coast starts -- that is, a Roku game need not start at 8:30 AM local time. Two West Coast games -- Arizona at SD July 7 and Dodgers at Arizona Sep. 1 -- start at 1:10 PM local time.
