Ohtani's 12th Homer Ties MLB Lead as Dodgers Rally Past Diamondbacks 14-11

The Los Angeles Dodgers split the first two games of their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In the series opener, the Dodgers lost 5-3. Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed five runs over five innings, including a grand slam to Gabriel Moreno and a solo home run to Ketel Marte. Yamamoto's outing tied his career high for runs allowed in an MLB start and doubled his season ERA from 0.90 to 1.80. Shohei Ohtani hit his 11th home run of the season in the ninth inning, going 0-for-3 before that at-bat. The Dodgers' late rally was not enough, and the game was played in front of a crowd of over 40,000 at Chase Field.

In the second game, the Dodgers defeated the Diamondbacks 14-11 after scoring six runs in the ninth inning. Shohei Ohtani hit a go-ahead three-run homer—his 12th of the season and second in as many games—tying him for the major league lead in home runs. Ohtani finished with three hits in six at-bats, four RBIs, and two doubles, extending his hitting streak to six games. The Dodgers' ninth-inning rally included RBI doubles from Andy Pages and Enrique Hernández and a game-tying single from Max Muncy. Hernández also hit a solo home run earlier in the game, and Pages had three RBIs.

Arizona's Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a grand slam to tie the game in the fifth inning, while Ketel Marte homered twice for the Diamondbacks. Roki Sasaki started for the Dodgers, allowing five runs over four innings and receiving a no decision. Tanner Scott recorded his ninth save of the season. The Dodgers' win extended their streak of games with a home run to 13 and improved their record to 26-13, leading the NL West.
