The Atlanta Braves managed to get their first base hit of the game in the sixth inning when Orlando Arcia hit a leadoff double off Mitchell Parker. Despite this, the Washington Nationals took the lead with CJ Abrams hitting a high fastball to right-center, giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead. Lane Thomas extended the lead to 2-0 with a back-to-back hit. Jacob Young made a tremendous catch in right-center to rob Ozzie Albies of a potential RBI single, helping Parker maintain his scoreless pitching through six innings on 58 pitches.
