The Washington Nationals have designated Victor Robles, the longest tenured veteran, for assignment, ending his tenure with the team. Robles, one of the few remaining players from the 2019 World Series club, played 530 games over parts of eight seasons with the Nationals, hitting a combined .236 with 31 home runs. His departure paves the way for rookie Jacob Young, who has become the Nationals' starting center fielder. Young, 24, leads the team with 15 stolen bases, is hitting .260, and is known for his strong defensive play. The move also coincides with the activation of Lane Thomas off the injured list.

The DFA of Robles is an endorsement of Jacob Young. Young, 24, has become the Nats starting CF. The rookie leads WSH with 15 SB’s while hitting .260 and playing plus defense. I love that the club chose to keep playing Young over sending him down to Keep Robles.
