Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves hit a 2-run homer in the first inning, giving the Braves a 2-1 lead and breaking Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews' single-season franchise RBI record. Mathews had 135 RBIs in 1953. This homer also set a new MLB-record of 47 first-inning homers for the Braves. Olson's 54th home run of the season set a new single-season franchise record for RBIs with 136. He now owns the Braves' single-season franchise record for RBIs. Olson's home run also made him the MLB leader with 54 home runs.
