The Cleveland Guardians have signed free agent right-handed pitcher Tyler Zuber to a Minor League deal with a non-roster invite to Major League camp. Zuber, 28, had 54 outings with the Kansas City Royals in 2020-2021 and spent 2023 in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization following shoulder surgery in 2022. Additionally, the Guardians have officially signed Carlos Carrasco, who returns on a minor league contract with a base salary of $2 million and a chance to earn another $2 million in starts. In other news, the Texas Rangers claimed RHP Daniel Duarte from Cincinnati, but he was then claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Twins. The Twins designated reliever Ryan Jensen for assignment in the process.
RHP Daniel Duarte, whom the Rangers had claimed from Cincinnati, was claimed off waivers by Minnesota on Friday. The Rangers had DFA'd him to make room for the signing of Travis Jankowski/David Robertson.
Twins claimed reliever Daniel Duarte off waivers from Rangers and designated for assignment reliever Ryan Jensen. Duarte is a hard-throwing 26-year-old right-hander with a 4.19 ERA in 34 career MLB innings. Good stuff, iffy control. Jensen was added via waiver claim last month.
