Max Fried faced challenges in the first inning of the Braves-Phillies game, allowing a double steal by Schwarber and Harper, a two-run single by Stott, and a bases-loaded walk to Castellanos. Despite controversial calls by the umpire, Fried exited the game early with the Phillies leading 3-2.
Even the batter thought he struck out. Bad call. Luckily @Braves rallied but this ultimately knocked Fried out in 1st inning.....#BeBetter https://t.co/WwfH3aVjnw
Max Fried's pitch was right down the middle... It was called a ball. 😬🤦♂️ (🎥: @MLBONFOX) https://t.co/EoxmuthZbf

Sure looks like strike 3, end of the inning… but Bruce Dreckman calls this a ball. Phillies go on to score 3 runs and chase Max Fried from the game. https://t.co/exkwLQWMgx
This pitch was called a ball. Max Fried would've escaped the jam... instead he doesn't escape the first https://t.co/cg5WbZ6mYf
Bryson Stott with a two-run single for the Phillies lead! Max Fried didn't make it out of the first https://t.co/KyiQBB5I2y
A wild first inning, and isn't even finished: Albies two-run homer, Harper cartwheels into camera well, Schwarber-Harper double steal, Castellanos walks with bases loaded after 2-2 pitch down middle is called a ball, Stott singles to score two, Fried finished after 43 pitches.
Here is the 2-2 pitch that preceded the Castellanos bases-loaded walk. Fried would have escaped the inning unscathed. Now he exits having recorded just two outs and with the Phillies leading 3-2 in the first. https://t.co/UEPVxElp6s
Ump just called this ball three, it would have ended the inning. Instead, a run scores one pitch later with a Castellanos walk. https://t.co/fkZl5kideQ
2-2 fastball to Castellanos was thrown middle-middle. Called Ball 3. Then Fried walked him, to force in a run. Fried at 38 pitches in the first inning.

Fried's third walk of the first inning is a bases-loaded walk to Castellanos to bring in a run, cuts #Braves lead to 2-1
With bases loaded, Bohm hit a squibber off his foot and Fried slipped while trying to field it (thinking it was in play), looked like his left leg got a little odd angle as he fell. Trainer came out, but Fried stayed in game, got Bohm to pop out to Olson for second out.
The last two years, Max Fried has allowed 7 steals in 13 attempts. Kyle Schwarber did not steal a base last year. First inning today: A Schwarber/Bryce Harper double-steal against Fried.
