Aaron Judge's ground ball to shortstop in the first inning has been the subject of multiple scoring changes. Initially ruled an error, it was later changed to a hit after reviewing video and other data. However, MLB's updated boxscore has reverted the decision back to an error. This incident highlights ongoing concerns and debates about the criteria used for official scoring in Major League Baseball. The play, referred to as an 'E6' and described as a 'rocket of a bouncer,' underscores the controversy.
Hey what do you know, that error on Judge’s rocket of a bouncer in the first last night, later changed to a hit, has been changed back to an error per MLB’s updated boxscore.
Scoring change on the Judge grounder in the 1st. It, at first, was correctly scored an error & it has been changed to a hit. I will continue on this soapbox: Starting last year, regardless of what MLB says, there was a drastic change in official scoring. And it remains a joke
Somehow that E6 was changed to a hit for Judge. Exit velo determines hits/errors now? hmmmmmm
Press box announcement: After reviewing "video and other data," Aaron Judge's ground ball to shortstop has been changed from an error to a hit.
Was officially ruled a single and an error, fwiw. End result the same. Two on and nobody out for the Purple Aces. https://t.co/eN2FyXXwOt
