A series of attacks targeting police forces have escalated tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In Dera Ismail Khan, militants launched a significant assault on a police station, resulting in the deaths of 10 policemen and injuries to 6 others. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which ceased claiming attacks since January 17, 2024, is believed to be behind the attack, although they have not officially claimed responsibility. However, Bunyan Marsoos, a news agency affiliated with the TTP, declared that the Pakistani Taliban had orchestrated the assault. Additional incidents include an IED attack in Wana city injuring four police officers, and another in Lower Dir where a Bomb Disposal Squad member was killed and an assistant sub-inspector critically injured after 14 rounds of mortar shells were recovered. Furthermore, two policemen were severely injured in a motorcycle bomb explosion in Wana, and one policeman was shot dead at the Ambela Check-post in district Buner.
