Nine Iranian Nationals Arrested in UK Over Plots Targeting Israeli Embassy, Linked to IRGC's Unit 840

British authorities have arrested nine Iranian nationals in connection with two separate terrorism investigations. The first operation involved the arrest of five men suspected of plotting an attack on the Israeli embassy in London. The suspects, aged between 24 and 46, were detained under the Terrorism Act across various locations including Swindon, west London, Stockport, Rochdale, and Manchester. Reports suggest that the alleged plot was orchestrated by Unit 840 of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In a separate investigation, four Iranian men were arrested in London under the National Security Act 2023. These arrests are part of an ongoing counter-terrorism operation, with the latest detainee being a 31-year-old man arrested in north-west London. One of the men was detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the two operations are not connected. The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command is leading both investigations, with searches conducted at multiple addresses in Greater Manchester, London, Swindon, and Glasgow. The police have been granted additional time to question the suspects, with some detained until May 17. The public has been urged to remain vigilant as the investigations continue.
