In a related development, ISIS also claimed responsibility for the assassination of Mawlana Nur Islam, also known as Noor Islam Nizami, a local leader of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam in Ghulam Khan village, near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The attack on Nur Islam was specifically attributed to his affiliation with JUI-F. Additionally, Taliban officials in Kandahar expressed concerns about potential ISIS attacks during Eid prayers.
