Iran Calls on UN Security Council to Hold Israel and US Accountable for 12-Day War, Demands Compensation

Iran has repeatedly called for emergency meetings of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in response to recent military actions by Israel and the United States. Initially, Iran demanded urgent UNSC sessions to address Israeli airstrikes targeting its nuclear facilities, military sites, and senior commanders, condemning these attacks and urging the international community to hold Israel accountable. Subsequently, Iran also requested emergency UNSC meetings to discuss and condemn US airstrikes on its nuclear sites, describing them as unprovoked aggression and calling for the international community to maintain peace and punish those responsible. Iranian officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, have stated that the United States must pay reparations for damages caused by these strikes and have indicated that Iran will pursue compensation through diplomatic and legal channels at the United Nations. In a formal letter to the UN Secretary-General and the UNSC President, Araghchi urged the council to officially recognize Israel and the United States as the initiators of aggression in the recent 12-day conflict and to hold them accountable for the ensuing damages, including payment of compensation and reparations. Iran continues to press the UN to acknowledge the responsibility of both nations for the conflict and to take action accordingly.
