Robinhood Markets Inc. has agreed to acquire WonderFi Technologies Inc., a Canadian leader in digital asset products and services backed by Kevin O'Leary, for approximately C$250 million in an all-cash deal. The transaction values WonderFi at C$0.36 per share, representing a 41% premium over its last closing price on the Toronto Stock Exchange and a 71% premium to its 30-day volume-weighted average trading price (VWAP).

WonderFi operates two of Canada's largest regulated crypto trading platforms, Bitbuy and Coinsquare, handling over C$2.1 billion in assets under custody and serving 1.6 million users. The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approvals and shareholder consent.

This move marks Robinhood's expansion into the Canadian market, aiming to enhance its global financial ecosystem by tapping into one of the world's fastest-growing crypto markets. Robinhood already has over 140 employees based in Canada, and WonderFi's team will join Robinhood Crypto. This acquisition follows Robinhood's $200 million purchase of the Luxembourg-based crypto exchange Bitstamp last year.
