Six LAPD Officers Stripped of Powers Amid Investigation into Racist Comments by Sgt. Denny Jong

Recent investigations into the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) have been prompted by secret recordings that allegedly capture officers making racist and sexist remarks. A complaint has been filed against LAPD Sgt. Denny Jong, who is accused of leading discussions filled with derogatory comments about Black applicants, female colleagues, and LGBTQ+ co-workers. As a result of these allegations, six officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant from the LAPD's recruitment division, have had their police powers revoked and have been assigned to home duties while the investigation is ongoing. The LAPD's internal watchdog has also called for a thorough investigation following the release of these recordings.
