Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, along with other city officials, is promoting public transportation as the 10 freeway is closed due to rain. She has made Commuter Express buses free of charge and instructed Metro to increase train speeds. Metro has added more buses to routes and increased ridership by 10%. Bass urges commuters to avoid surface streets and use public transportation. Metro is taking various actions, including adding buses and increasing train speeds, to alleviate the impact of the freeway closure. The closure affects nearly 300,000 commuters, and city officials are actively promoting public transportation to mitigate the impact.
