Turkish Authorities Shut Kilis Döner Facility, Seal Mersin Dessert Plant, Seize 11 Tons Moldy Walnuts at Yörem Baklava with Legal Action

Authorities in Turkey have taken enforcement actions against several food production facilities for hygiene and licensing violations. In Kilis, a döner production facility was shut down for failing to comply with hygiene regulations. In Mersin, an unlicensed dessert production facility was sealed by officials. In Şanlıurfa, municipal police discovered 11 tons of moldy walnut kernels intended for baklava production at the warehouse of Yörem Baklava, a company with 86 branches nationwide. The contaminated walnuts were destroyed, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the business owners.
