SpiceJet has revealed that it did not pay statutory dues amounting to nearly Rs 427 crore between April 2020 and August 2024 due to its constrained financial position. Additionally, the airline owes Rs 355 crore in TDS and PF contributions. Legal experts have stated that evasion of GST, which is a part of these unpaid dues, is a serious offence since it is a tax already collected from the customer but not paid. The total unpaid and disputed dues for SpiceJet have reached nearly 800 crore since 2010.
