Apple is actively defending its annual $20 billion revenue from a search deal with Google amid ongoing legal challenges from the U.S. Department of Justice. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president, has criticized the DOJ's proposed remedy to eliminate revenue-sharing agreements with Google as unreasonable. This $20 billion payment forms a substantial part of Apple's income alongside its App Store commissions, which generated approximately $10.1 billion in the U.S. in 2024, more than doubling from $4.76 billion in 2020, according to an Appfigures analysis cited by TechCrunch. Together, these two revenue streams represent nearly $30 billion in nearly pure profit for Apple. Despite these challenges, Apple is preparing for a future without reliance on Google, while still seeking to maintain the lucrative search deal.
