Chile's state mining giant Codelco, one of the world's largest copper producers, fell further behind its production target in May, according to an internal document obtained by Reuters. The document revealed that Codelco's May copper production was 103,100 metric tons, which is 8.6% below the target of 112,800 metric tons. Additionally, Codelco's copper production from January to May was 484,500 metric tons, 6.1% below the target of 516,100 metric tons. Despite this, copper production in Chile showed signs of recovery in May, with output rising more than 8% compared to April and the same period last year, according to data released on Friday. However, the overall copper production in Chile continues to fall to a 25-year low.
