Güler Erdogan, Miss Europa-Kosovo, died on April 20 at age 27 after falling from a bridge in Pristina while fleeing police. The incident followed a routine police alcohol check, during which Erdogan was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.70 mg/100 ml, more than three times the legal limit.
After the test, Erdogan attempted to escape on foot, running across a pedestrian overpass above a six-lane highway. During her flight, she fell from a height of over 20 meters onto the highway and was struck by a vehicle that could not stop.
Erdogan had been celebrating Eid with family and friends prior to the accident. Her family, who were present at the incident, issued a statement urging the public not to believe false reports and confirmed she died in a tragic accident. Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances and determine any further responsibilities.
