Japan hosted the first Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction in Tokyo, marking a significant step in supporting Ukraine's post-war recovery. During the conference, Ukraine and Japan, led by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister Kishida respectively, signed 56 documents encompassing a wide range of areas including the avoidance of double taxation, support for Ukraine's recovery with Japanese organizations, implementation of restoration programs, and cooperation in the fields of education and technology. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who arrived in Tokyo to discuss Ukraine's reconstruction, participated in the event alongside Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, who held a meeting with Shmyhal and delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing Japan's commitment to aiding Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. The conference saw the participation of about 80 Japanese companies, which signed cooperation agreements in various fields such as agriculture and technology. Japan also pledged new financial contributions to support Ukraine, including a $7 million contribution to IFC's support for Ukraine, a $105 million pledge aimed at generating electricity, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and investing in Ukraine's future, and a $12 million aid to help rebuild Ukraine's economy after the conflict with Moscow ends. Additionally, Japan announced a €1.25 billion allocation to support its investors in Ukraine. The conference underscored the vital role of private investment in Japan's support for Ukraine's rebuilding efforts.
