China Resumes Visa-Free Entry for Japanese Citizens for 30-Day Stays Starting November 30

China has resumed its visa exemption policy for short-term stays by Japanese nationals, effective November 30, 2024. This marks the first time in four and a half years that such a policy has been reinstated, after it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The move allows Japanese citizens to stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa. However, concerns remain over safety issues, including instances of detentions under China's anti-espionage law, which could affect the extent of Japanese travel to China.
