During a briefing to the Security Council on Wednesday, the chief of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), Bintou Keita (@UN_BintouKeita), raised concerns over the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Keita highlighted that over 7 million people have been displaced due to the activities of armed groups, including M23. The situation in the mineral-rich eastern part of the country is particularly dire, with security deteriorating as rebel groups continue to expand their territory. The United Nations has described the situation as a humanitarian disaster.
