Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesman, Omer Dostri, left his post on 5 July, with his departure taking effect immediately, according to multiple Israeli media outlets.

Channel 13 and the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that Dostri’s exit followed repeated disputes with the prime minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu. Sources close to the premier offered a different explanation, saying Dostri was dismissed for lack of experience, but did not deny that Sara Netanyahu played a role in the decision.

The personnel shake-up comes just days before Netanyahu is scheduled to travel to Washington for meetings with U.S. officials. The Jerusalem Post said Likud member Ziv Agmon, who recently joined the prime minister’s press team, is the leading candidate to replace Dostri.
