Julen Lopetegui, the former Spain manager, has rejected a high-profile €18m per annum offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, in anticipation of a suitable Premier League offer. Swansea City, following a data-led decision that led to the appointment and subsequent dismissal of manager Duff, has reverted to its 'identity'-centric approach. The club tried to acquire Chris Davies from Tottenham Hotspur, a move that was rejected by the London club. Notably, Davies had been a target for Swansea in the previous summer as well.
June: Davies is a free agent, Swansea hold talks but decide to move away from ‘identity’ & make a data-led appointment - pay Barnsley compensation for Duff. Dec: Swansea sack Duff & pay termination, decide identity is important, & approach Spurs to pay compensation for Davies.
