Israel’s Gideon Sa'ar Says IRGC Plot to Attack Citizens in Cyprus Foiled by Cypriot Security Forces

Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced that an attempted terrorist attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeting Israeli citizens in Cyprus was thwarted. The foiling of the plot was achieved through close cooperation between Cypriot security forces and Israeli intelligence services, including the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) and Mossad. Cypriot authorities arrested an alleged Iranian agent linked to the IRGC in Limassol, preventing what could have been a deadly strike. Sa'ar accused the Iranian regime of deliberately targeting Israeli civilians both within Israel and abroad and stated that Israel will continue efforts to eliminate the existential threat posed by the Iranian regime. The Israeli government expressed gratitude to Cyprus for its swift and effective response in preventing the attack.
