The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted operations in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, where they targeted Hamas weapons storage facilities and tunnels. The Givati Brigade located and destroyed a weapons depot in the al-Amal neighborhood, finding over 40 explosive devices and a ton of explosive material. Additionally, the IDF announced the destruction of more than 40 tons of explosive devices throughout its operations. A significant discovery was a 900-meter-long tunnel stretching hundreds of feet under the border fence into Israeli territory, which had been under surveillance since 2019. This tunnel, similar to the one used to kidnap Gilad Shalit, contained rooms for operatives and a large cache of weapons and was demolished by combat engineers. Following the withdrawal of Israeli forces, significant destruction in Khan Younis was reported, including the damage to al-Amal Hospital, rendering it out of service, and massive destruction in the city.
