The Palestinian movement Hamas has indicated its readiness to release the two remaining Israeli hostages with Russian citizenship, contingent upon reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. This was confirmed by Musa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of Hamas's political bureau, during his visit to Moscow. On Monday, Marzouk met with Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia's deputy minister of foreign affairs, at the Russian MFA in Moscow. Marzouk also headed a Hamas delegation to Moscow on October 26, 2023. He emphasized that the two Russian-Israeli hostages would be the first to be released if a ceasefire agreement is reached. Marzouk also stated that Hamas does not seek military assistance from Russia.
